Renmin South Road SBD
Renmin South Road Science (and Technology) Business District, or SBD, with a planned area of 15 km2, extends outward along the axis of Renmin South Road, to Jinjiang in the north, Chengdu-Kunming Railway in the south, Jinjiang Gaopan Segment in the east, and First Section of West 1st Ring Road in the west. It has jurisdiction over five Street Neighborhood Offices including those of Jiangxi Street, Wangjiang Road, South Railway Station, Yulin, and Tiaosanta. As an international business-oriented district, modern commercial service takes the lead, complemented by high-end business and electronic information services. As the key link between downtown CBD and Chengdu Tianfu New Zone, this section functions as Chengdu’s “reception room” because it is the city’s first impression as visitors enter downtown from Shuangliu International Airport.
Currently, there are 3.2 million m2 of completed projects including 2.3 million m2 of commercial space and an additional 760,000m2 ongoing projects intended for commercial use. Many Grade A office buildings and first-class hotels including Raffles City, JinJiang International, Lippo Tower, Western Federal Mansion, Air China Century, Kempinski, Regal Master and Ascot are tailored to meet a variety of business needs. Foreign consulates of the United States, Thailand and Germany are present, along with operations from 34 Fortune Global 500 companies like Dell, P&G and Roche. An international business climate is quickly taking shape in this district.
About 94.8 ha (1422 mu) of land is expected to be developed, of which 3.41 million m2 of space is intended for commercial use. As urban construction advances and high-end industries assemble, Renmin South Road Science (and Technology) Business District will play an active role in the global industrial division of labor and industrial transfer, and an increasing number of Fortune 500 companies and well-known businesses will establish themselves here. The ultimate goal is to become a modern international business district of “first-class in China and No. 1 in West China”.
